Non-Warblers Ohio 13th May 2014

The two highlights of the day were the two female American Woodcock incubating eggs in the car park. Both were completely habituated to the dozen of admirers only metres away. The other highlight was a very out of place Henslow's Sparrow. These are nearly always a strict grassland species so to find one feeding amongst the leaf litter in a wet woodland was very odd to say the least! It was a very warm day with temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius / 90 Fahrenheit. It was a little too much for both the incubating American Woodcock and an Irish birder!

American Woodcock, the midday heat was a little too much for everyone.
